Whether you need printed passport photos or a digital version, we’ve got you covered.

For UK passports, photos must be 45mm high × 35mm wide and we make sure they’re the correct size every time. Your digital photo can be emailed to you or saved to a USB, ready to use.

Please note: passport photos must be taken and sized correctly images cropped down from larger photos are not accepted.You’ll also receive a digital photo code, making it quick and easy to upload your photo when completing your online passport application.

Photo Requirements

To be accepted, your passport photo must meet

the following standards:

  • Printed in colour on plain white photographic paper

  • Taken against a plain cream or light grey background

  • Recently taken (within the last month)

  • Sharp, clear, and in focus

  • Free from damage, including tears, folds, or creases

  • Unmarked on both sides, unless a countersignature is required

  • Not digitally altered or edited in any way

Your photo must be a close-up of your full head and shoulders, showing only you no other people or objects in the frame.

The height of your face (from the crown of your head to your chin) must measure between 29mm and 34mm.

Photo Rejections

Photos can reject you unless:
 
  • Looking directly at the camera with your face straight on
  • Maintaining a natural, neutral expression with lips closed
  • With your face fully visible and unobstructed
  • Clearly distinguishable from the background
  • Without headwear, except where worn for religious or medical reasons
  • With eyes open, clearly visible, and free from glare or reflections
  • Without sunglasses, tinted lenses, heavy frames, or hair covering the eyes
  • Free from red-eye effects
